# PowerShell: Get Motherboard Model

Need to check the model of the motherboard - for hardware inventory, driver lookups, or confirming compatibility? This one-liner pulls it straight from the system.

Prerequisites:

- Privileges: None
- Module: Built-in, no import needed

Quick Command:

```powershell
Get-CimInstance -ClassName Win32_BaseBoard | Select-Object Model
```

Example Output:

```powershell
Model
-----
0PXFT4
```

How It Works:

- Get-CimInstance -ClassName Win32\_BaseBoard queries the baseboard (motherboard) class.
- Model returns the manufacturer's model number for the motherboard - useful for looking up drivers, chipset specs, or compatible components.

Pro Tip:

On virtual machines, this often comes back empty, since there's no physical motherboard with a manufacturer-assigned model number.
