# PowerShell: Get CPU Model and Manufacturer

Need to check the exact CPU model and manufacturer installed on a machine - for hardware inventory, compatibility checks, or confirming specs? This one-liner pulls it straight from the system.

Prerequisites:

- Privileges: None
- Module: Built-in, no import needed

Quick Command:

```Powershell
Get-CimInstance -ClassName Win32_Processor | Select-Object Name, Manufacturer
```

Example Output:

Name                        Manufacturer
----                        ------------
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-14500T GenuineIntel

How It Works:

- Get-CimInstance -ClassName Win32\_Processor queries the processor class, which reports details about each physical CPU installed in the system.
- Name shows the exact processor model as reported by the manufacturer.
- Manufacturer returns the chip maker - typically GenuineIntel for Intel processors or AuthenticAMD for AMD processors, rather than a friendly brand name.
